Teacup Thursday: "A Child's Tea Set"

Brew me a cup for a winter's night.
For the wind howls loud and the furies fight;
Spice it with love and stir it with care,
And I'll toast our bright eyes,
my sweetheart fair.
~Minna Thomas Antrim

We are in the middle of Winter! (Remember, I don’t really care for winter!) But with that said, we are halfway through it and in only a few short months it will be Spring! I remember one of our first winters here in the country… it was very cold, snowy and LONG! It was during that winter that Mom read us Laura Ingalls Wilder’s The Long Winter. She would read to us in the afternoon, we’d all sip tea and dream of Spring!

This little Teacup and Teapot we found at an antique shop. Their size is small and childlike ~ Mom thought it would be perfect for her grandchildren to use someday! haa-haa!!

  2. Good morning,
    I love Laura Ingalls Wilder's stories and I so miss the series on TV! I don't care for winter either; especially on a day like we're having today. Very nasty snow storm! But I would enjoy a cup of tea from your lovely little teapot and sweet teacup! Thank you for sharing and stay warm!

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  3. I have read that book to my boys, it probably my favorite one of her books. And such a beautiful tea set! I love teacups with patterns in the bottom.

  4. Hurray for the middle of winter! Spring is almost here and soon the wildflowers will be blooming. What a perfect way to spend the winter, reading and having tea. Your little teapot and teacup are so charming. Well I'm off to try your Gingerbread waffle recipe and then have a peek at everyone's lovely teacup posts.
