Changes...Good Changes...but Changes all the Same

Yesterday was a new day...a happy day...and yet with the changes, I found myself a little surprised when a feeling of homesickness passed over me! After nearly 40 weeks of searching for work, my hubby, Spenser's Dad, was blessed to have found a great full-time position with Farm Bureau in the Finance Department, and because of that, we are truly blessed, especially with the current economic situation. However, as I spotted the little rose teapot on the kitchen hutch, I couldn't help but feel a little bit of achiness in my heart! You see, this little teapot was filled nearly every morning with Don's favorite... Hazlenut tea with a bit of milk and sugar. Now it quietly sits back on the shelf...strange how emotions work...can anyone relate?!

    We'll miss Don at Thursday's tea, but I am SO happy he has a full-time position.

    Oh yes, I can relate. Can you have tea earlier in the morning before he leaves? Or maybe when he first arrives home?

    Tim was called this morning for his first day of work in 2 1/2 years. He was terrified.

    What a sweet memory this adorable teapot holds. It's amazing how having tea is always more than just drinking the tea.

Last of the Summer Rose: Rose Ice Cream Recipe

The Last of the Summer Roses are Here!  Here's a Recipe for you to enjoy with the last of this year's roses.  Rose Petal Ice Cream 2 C Heavy Cream 1 C Sugar 1 C Rose Petals 2 Tea Spoons of Rose Congou Black Tea 1-2 drops of food coloring In a heavy bottomed saucepan heat milk, sugar, rose petals and Rose Congou Black Tea over moderate heat until almost boiling.   Take off stove; place a lid on top and steep for 20 minutes.   Strain, place in fridge to cool; then process in an ice cream maker.   Serve in chilled glasses with a few rose petals for garnish.   Yields 4 servings.   Keep in mind, the cream makes this Ice Cream rich, so a votive cup of Ice Cream is a perfect serving size.  Enjoy!

"We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!" Mom was the first to get this set of “Cup of Christmas Tea” teacup and teapot. She received them many years ago by a friend in California, Dayna Esquivel. When we moved out here to the country, Mom and I began enjoying tea together in the afternoons. That Christmas Mom found another set of “Christmas Tea” teacups and teapot and purchased them for me! We always get these teacups out at Christmas and sip tea out of them on a regular basis.
