Reflection on this Past Weekend

What a wonderful time I had this past weekend with my family, celebrating both my birthday and Mother's Day. I wanted to share with you tea loving friends a couple of my special gifts.

On my birthday, Saturday, I opened up a lovely gift containing this pretty Teapot made by Price, I love transferware...especially scenes of English countryside!


After Saturday was over, I thought all the gift giving was over, but no...the kids surprised me on Sunday morning with a few other items...and, naturally, a teapot was one of the special items received. This beautiful Rose Teapot made by Arthur & Sons, Stattfordshire, ENGLAND.  As roses are one of my favorite flowers to collect in teapots and cups, you can only imagine how thrilled I was upon receiving this gift!

For lunch Miss Spenser served Strawberry Fruit Soup, Ham and Cheese Quiche, and Cream Scones served with Violet Jelly and freshly whipped cream...it was yummy...and for dessert, we enjoyed leftover Chocolate Fudge Birthday Cake...it was a most glorious day!! Hoping all mothers out there enjoyed an equally beautiful day with their families!

    The rose teapot is among my collection of teapots too! It's one of my favorites as I love the ruffly top edge! Happy Mother's Day and Happy Birthday!

Last of the Summer Rose: Rose Ice Cream Recipe

The Last of the Summer Roses are Here!  Here's a Recipe for you to enjoy with the last of this year's roses.  Rose Petal Ice Cream 2 C Heavy Cream 1 C Sugar 1 C Rose Petals 2 Tea Spoons of Rose Congou Black Tea 1-2 drops of food coloring In a heavy bottomed saucepan heat milk, sugar, rose petals and Rose Congou Black Tea over moderate heat until almost boiling.   Take off stove; place a lid on top and steep for 20 minutes.   Strain, place in fridge to cool; then process in an ice cream maker.   Serve in chilled glasses with a few rose petals for garnish.   Yields 4 servings.   Keep in mind, the cream makes this Ice Cream rich, so a votive cup of Ice Cream is a perfect serving size.  Enjoy!

"We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!" Mom was the first to get this set of “Cup of Christmas Tea” teacup and teapot. She received them many years ago by a friend in California, Dayna Esquivel. When we moved out here to the country, Mom and I began enjoying tea together in the afternoons. That Christmas Mom found another set of “Christmas Tea” teacups and teapot and purchased them for me! We always get these teacups out at Christmas and sip tea out of them on a regular basis.
