Artistic Tea Friends

A couple of years ago, Miss Spenser was trying to find someone to tutor her in her watercolor interests... so she decided to pray about finding a mentor. Not long after, look who showed up at the Tearoom ~ one of Iowa's Premier Watercolor Landscape Artists, John Preston!  Here's a picture of John and his lovely wife, Cindy. They came to our Out of Africa Tea that we hosted in October of 2008.  John is an avid Tea Drinker... see Tea is not just for women! :) We have enjoyed our friendship with them immensely.


Here's an exibit, ANNUAL LANDSCAPE SHOW,  that's currently on display at the Olson Larson Gallery in Valley Junction, IA. For those of you who live (or used to live) in the Midwest, you will see that John Preston has the talent of capturing the beauty of the rural countryside!   We hope to own one of his works one day!  Enjoy!!

    John's work is incredible! Each of his paintings cause you to look up into a captivating sky. Without you having told me already, I would guess John is a Christian just by looking at wonder and beauty of God's creation he so beautiful captures in his paintings. You are blessed to know him and his sweet wife.

Last of the Summer Rose: Rose Ice Cream Recipe

The Last of the Summer Roses are Here!  Here's a Recipe for you to enjoy with the last of this year's roses.  Rose Petal Ice Cream 2 C Heavy Cream 1 C Sugar 1 C Rose Petals 2 Tea Spoons of Rose Congou Black Tea 1-2 drops of food coloring In a heavy bottomed saucepan heat milk, sugar, rose petals and Rose Congou Black Tea over moderate heat until almost boiling.   Take off stove; place a lid on top and steep for 20 minutes.   Strain, place in fridge to cool; then process in an ice cream maker.   Serve in chilled glasses with a few rose petals for garnish.   Yields 4 servings.   Keep in mind, the cream makes this Ice Cream rich, so a votive cup of Ice Cream is a perfect serving size.  Enjoy!

"We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!" Mom was the first to get this set of “Cup of Christmas Tea” teacup and teapot. She received them many years ago by a friend in California, Dayna Esquivel. When we moved out here to the country, Mom and I began enjoying tea together in the afternoons. That Christmas Mom found another set of “Christmas Tea” teacups and teapot and purchased them for me! We always get these teacups out at Christmas and sip tea out of them on a regular basis.
