The Royal Wait Continues...Will it be Pink or Blue?

Image
The Royal Wait Continues...Will it be Pink or Blue?  As our London trip is quickly approaching, we have been having more regular conversations with our friends across the pond finalizing what to bring and so forth. Last evening, the question arose, "Well, do you think the Royal Baby is a boy?" They replied, "The papers over here reckon it is based on what she's been buying and looking at in the shops."  As they say, "Time will tell!"   If you would like to read more here's a recent article click here

Teacup Post: Lucky Us

Image
Over Memorial Weekend, we had the privilege to get together with all of my Mom’s sisters. One lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, another in Tennessee and another in North Dakota. All of them know how much we love “all things tea,” so if they happen upon tea items, they will pick them up for us, or call us to ask if we’d like this or that…  One of the items, which we don’t have a picture of at this time, is a very old tea table that folds down. My Mom’s sister, Deana, found it a couple years ago at a tag sale in Tennessee. Unfortunately, we have been so busy, we have not been able to get over there to pick it up! And…funnier yet, we met at Grandma and Grandpa’s home in Cedar Rapids, and discovered that between our luggage and 6 people, the table did not fit in our Explorer! SO…Grandma will be the caretaker of it now until we can get over to visit without a full car load!  Other fun items we received were teacups…Teresa, my mom’s sister in North Dakota, has been ho...

Tearoom Friends: A Great Mother's Day gift to Grandma Cline

Image
Cline Girls and their Grandma At our Edwardian Fashion Show we were graced upon by the lovely Cline Family! This family is truly delightful (not to mention very pretty too!) The Cline Family has been to our tearoom many times. For this Mother's Day, the girls made a special effort to honor their grandmother. They wrote a sweet poem for their grandmother inviting her to tea. We asked them if they'd be so gracious to let us share it with all of you, as it was just too endearing not too!! What a great Mother's Day Gift! Hope you enjoy!  Tea Time with Grandma Cline  Grandma, we were wondering if you would please,  Join us at Miss Spenser’s Special-Teas.  Even though we are all grown up,  We would still love to reminisce over a cup.  It’ll be just like the good old days,  When we were little and Grandma would bring out the trays.  There would be pretty tea cups, sugar cubes and lots of honey,  Along with smiles, g...

Highlights from our Fashion Show Tea!

Image
We had a busy weekend here at Miss Spenser's...we were finally able to share our House of Elliott Fashion Show Tea Party. We showcased clothing worn from 1900-1920. As some of you will recall, our previously scheduled event was May 4, unfortunately a surprise snow storm made it's way to Iowa causing wires to come down and our home to be without power...with GEO thermal and an all electric house, makes it a bit difficult to brew a pot of tea!! Thankfully, most guests were able to reschedule...and for those who couldn't make it...we are still, so very sorry! We hope we can make it up to you in future tea events!!   Here are some highlights from this weekend ~ Enjoy!  Just some of the Savories and Sandwiches that we served.  Our Fancy Orange Cake in Chocolate Cups!  Miss Spenser & her good friend, Mary, who was the perfect Flapper Girl! Thank you Mary for being such a great model for us!  Be watching for a Special Post on th...
