Happy Mother's Day

Image
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. ~Rajneesh Happy Mother’s Day! Hope you all are enjoying the day with your family. Mothers Day is a special day… but to my family, this mother’s day is twice as special as it also happens to be Mom’s birthday (and a special birthday at that – 50! But don’t tell her I told you!) We’ve been celebrating her birthday all week long! On Friday, mom and I headed down to Kansas City for a girls overnight stay. We shopped at Antique Stores on the way down, stayed at a hotel there on the Plaza, did some more shopping… We found some nice little treasures that we’ll be sure to share pictures with all of you soon! So be watching! Wishing you, Mommy… a very Happy Birthday and a Lovely Mother’s Day!! "A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity;...

Happy Teacup Thursday!! We have gathered together our Violets and Pansies Teacups and Teapots to share with you over the next few weeks... Did you know that Violets are a symbol of "Faithfulness"? "Look at us," said the violets blooming at her feet, "all last winter we slept in the seeming death but at the right time God awakened us, and here we are to comfort you." ~Edward Payson Rod Other's Who Are Participating in Teacup Thursday! Wedding Cake Cookies by Jenny's Cake & Cookies

Image
One of the Special Treats we served this weekend were Wedding Cake Cookies... made by the lovely Jenny Bessler. Jenny is one of our Tea Friends who has a Cake/Cookie Baking Business. We thought it would be so cute to serve decorated wedding cake cookie, but the thought of frosting and decorating so many little cookies sounded a bit daunting... so we called on Jenny. Didn't she do a good job?!! We think the cookies added such a nice touch to the Royal Wedding Afterglow Teaparty! Thanks Jenny!! If any of you would like to contact Jenny you can contact her at: Jenny's Cakes & Cookies 515-943-6966 jennycakes101@gmail.com   Find her on Facebook - "Jenny Cakes" To learn more about Jenny, click here to read an article about her heart-felt tribute to her mother.

What a festive tea party we had this past weekend! Guests arrived all decked out in lovely hats, fascinators and tiaras! The mood was very festive and celebratory, all in high hopes and well wishes for the newly married royal couple.   Guests enjoyed a delicious four course "royal" tea -- we started the tea off with Middleton Chilled Fruit Soup. After the first course, the tiered trays came out laden with savories, scones and sweets... To name a few, Queenly Carmelized Peach Quiche; Sapphire "Blue"berry Tea Sandwiches, Prince William's Classic Cucumber; Royal Scones... In Memory of Diana - Princess Diana Wedding Cupcakes topped with sugared sweet violets representing faithfulness. Guests enjoyed our Royal Wedding Blend, a hearty blend of three China black teas. We had a special guest all the way from England - The Queen herself!! (Can you spot her in the photo above?) Miss Spenser re-created Kate's Blue-Engagement Dress. All in All... it was a ve...
