A Violet Teacup and a Sip of Folklore

Image
I don't think you can ever go wrong with a Violet Teacup!  They are such a classic!  Over the next few weeks, I'd like to share with you different meanings behind the Violet Flower! Here's it's history in folklore:   In folklore violets are depicted as a source of protection against evil spirits. The leaves could be used in healing plasters, salves and antiseptics. They were also thought to cure insomnia. During the Medieval Times were also given as tokens of love and symbols of faithfulness, both because of their lovely smell, and their protective and healing connotations. A Fun Weekend with a Once in a Lifetime Friend

Image
What a fun weekend I had! Just last week I found out my dear childhood friend, Kiley, was traveling through Kansas City. KC is only about 2.5 hours away from me! I was so excited, and made plans to travel down to see her!  Kiley and I have been friends ever since we were 4 years old, so I feel like I've known her my whole life! We met when my family lived in California. Our moms were friends, so were Kiley and I! In fact Lori (Kiley's mom) got my mom hooked on Teatime! Immediately, Kiley and I 'clicked'! We had a lot of good times together!!  When I was 7, my family and I moved back to Iowa, but our families stayed in touch. Despite the miles between us, Kiley and I have stayed good friends by phone-calls, Facebook, email. But we haven't seen each other face to face since we were 8 years old - 15 years!  Here's a picture of us at 6 years old...  And us now at 22 and 23!  Kiley & Spenser It was absolutely crazy to finally see her in

Teacup Thursday: "Bird Chirping Weather"

Image
My favorite weather is bird-chirping weather.   ~Terri Guillemets    Look what we spotted in our garden this week!  It caught us by surprise to see such brightly colored yellow finches enjoying themselves on our fence! What a pleasant sight! Can you spot all four finches? You have to look closely!  To match our pink peonies in the garden, I tried to find a teacup that looked like them! This was the closest one that I could find!! Have a Happy Tea-Day!! ~ Miss Spenser Other's Who Are Participating in Teacup Thursday! Teacup Thursday: Roses and Ivy

Image
Good Morning Tea Friends!    Today, I thought I'd share with you our Roses and Ivy Teapot and Teacup. I love the way this teapot is shaped, so unusual! It's one of my favorites, but then again, I'm a little partial to Roses and Ivy!  I hope you enjoy them! ~ Miss Spenser   We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.   ~Frederick Keonig Other's Who Are Participating in Teacup Thursday!
